many areas, particularly those who live in the lower Omo
valley all with unique traditions and cultures; could be

|
|
Amazingly, these small groups
were interrelated in such a way that overtime, they underwent their own
evaluation marked by a process of displacement, changes in survival
means, symbiotic relationships, conflicts and acculturation under the
influence of the dominate groups.
The entire Omo region is
inhabited by ethno cultural groups pertaining to two important
linquistic lines.

2. Afro - Asiatic - Omotic - Karo, Banna, Bashada, Hamer Dizi
Eastern Cushitic, Dasenech, Erbore, Tsemako.
In General, the Nilo - Saharans
occupy the eastern parts of the lower Omo and extend to the south west
where they meet up with other Nilotic peoples, such as the meen, multe,
Annuak or Nuer people who are related to Nilotic peoples from Sudan and
Uganda.
As far as the Omotics and
cushitics are concerned, they occupy the eastern part of the lower omo
and have relations with Cushitic populations such as the Sidamo and the
Oromo, as well as northern omotic peoples such as the Ari, Basketo,
Bench, Dizi, and Wolaita.
