 SEMIEN MOUNTAINS - The mountain of majestic
The Semien Mountains national park is located in the Amhara national Regional State where 885 kms North West of Addis Ababa, geographical co-ordination approximatery in 130 110 N, 380 00 E with the total area 1900 kms. The park established 1966 and world Heritage site list in 1978

The region includes many summits above 4,000 meters (13,000 feets), and culminates in the highest point in Ethiopia, Ras DEJEN (DASHEN) which is 4,620 meters and also Africa's fourth highest mountains.

In the Mountains, there are various fauna and flora, there are fifty-seven tree species and variety of herbaceous plants twenty-two large, thirteen small from these Walia Ibex, Ethiopian Wolf, Menelik's bush buck and the Gelada baboon are endemic.
It is not a very difficult mountains to climb. There are various campsites and tracks to follow it. It is best to take the advice of the guides. The first stop is SANKABER camp a road manly leads through cultivated areas to the 3,239 meters. From this get their 1st glimpse of the spectacular scenery. Here it is possible to see the endemic Gelada baboon which usually can be seen in family units.

Geech, cheneck, Buahit, Ambiko are also other campsites for visitors excursively taking trekking four in the park either to arrive to Ras Dejen the highest peak.
In Ethiopia's South-east lies the Bale mountain National park. Ethiopia's second highland park area, is not as breath taxingly Spectacular as the Semien Mountains, but it is less humanized more vegetated, more uild A vast track encompassing about 1,000 sq kms of highland moorland, ringed with forests of hygenia and podocarpus, and graceful ancient cedars.

Bale Mountain national park is more the naturalist's paradise, A high altitude plateau broken by numerous dramatic volcanic plugs and peaks beautiful alpines lakes and mountain streams that rush in to deep, rocky Georges on their way to the low lands below.
Bale Mountain is Africa's largest Afro-Alpine habitat, with unlimited opportunities for some fantastic mountain Walks, horse trekking, scenic driving and the chance to see many endemic ethiopia's mammals & birds Bale mountain Birds include 16 endemic species, many of which are seen easily.

Bird Watching

 Ethiopia is about 860 species of birds live in the high lands, lowlands, river banks, wet lands, dams, lakes, forests, shrubs and grasslands of Ethiopia.
The number, diversity and colour of birds found in the country have power to interest the non-birders. With regard to number of species Ethiopia stands next to south Africa but Ethiopia possesses the high number of endemic & Semi endemic bird species.

Some if the spots which could be of interest to bird watchers includes, Abiata, Shalla, Awash park; lake Zeway, Koka Aam, Debre Libanos,
One of the reasons for the number and diversity of Ethiopian birds is the number and diversity of Ethiopian birds. The great Rift valley with its fresh water and saline lakes runs through the central highlands of Ethiopia from north to South. The highlands, which rise to 4620 meter, support montane forest, juniper woodland, crags and escarpments and grassland.
Elsewhere, crater lakes and acacia savanah are found and to the east of the highlands are large areas of Semi-desert.
